would go on to join the NHL officials Association in 2009 where he remains a current NHL official. On January 1st,
2019 he worked the Winter Classic game played in Notre Dame Stadium between the Chicago BlackHawks and
the Boston Bruins.

A three year veteran of the USHL, Tim worked the 2008 Clark Cup Finals and finished his USHL career in
2009 with an Official All-Star/Prospects game selection and again as a Clark Cup Finals referee.
I worked
the lines with Mike Oliver during Tim’s very first USHL game as a referee in Sioux City on
November 3rd, 2006.

Worn was worn during the 2005-06 Season, this was Mo’s 2nd jersey number as an AHL (American Hockey League)
official.
 (Originally wore number 27) but was switched for the 2005-2006 season to 32.  First game wearing this
sweater
took a puck in the face and broke his cheek.   AHL crest on front and logo on rear right hem. Tackle Twill

Keith spent three seasons as an USHL official starting during the 2002-03 season. He would go on to work the 2005 All-Star
Prospect game and the Clark Cup Finals. During his second season, he would ref the final game in the Sioux City
Auditorium, with Jonathan Morrison and me on the lines. On January 5th, 2001 Keith would be selected as referee for the
IIHF World Junior Championship Gold medal game Canada vs. Russia.

Chris was an USHL official for two seasons  (2000-01 & 2001-02). His first season he was chosen to work the USHL

this time as a referee. Chris joined the NHL officiating staff in 2006.

Chad Stewart

This jersey has been on a helicopter!!!
    
This one was worn for several seasons before it was suddenly retired during a CCHA game in Sioux Center, IA. Despite
his pleas to save his jersey, the paramedics cut it off quicker than you cound say “there goes ninety dollars.” This was a
standart pro-weight mesh referee jersey. It is made by CCM and has tagging in the collar and on the right rear hem. Yellow
ribbon (Support Our Troops) on left sleeve and UAS Hockey oval patch on right sleeve.
Chad would make a full recovery and
go on to eventually officiate for sixteen seasons, rising to the top of his game spending five seasons as a USHL linesman.

2008-09 SYHA / MHSHL Referee Helmet
   

The Buffalo Wild Wings sticker added the 2008 season and worn by most SYHA referees. BWW  had some promotional
opportunities
and compensated our referee association for a couple of seasons. “TJ” Sticker added the beginning of the 2010
season. BBW stickers are from the
2012-14 seasons and are no longer worn. “TJ” stickers remain
on all officials who knew TJ. No visors required.

Adam Axthlem

Worn by USA Hockey official Adam Axthlem. This was worn several years, but is from his last season as an official. This is a
standard pro weight jersey made by CCM. Two color tt attached nameplate. Manufacturer tagging in collar and on rear right hem.
Sewn-in bands. Size 44.  Adam worked the Midwest High School Hockey League as well as the CCHA with games in Sioux
Center and Ames. Adam was a USAH official for seven seasons.

2013 IIHL Mens World Championship
May, 3rd-19th / Stockholm, Sweden & Helsinki, Findland

This was worn during the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) by Jonathan Morrison.The tournament was
co-hosted by both Sweden and Finland in both 2012 and 2013. This was the 77th year for this traditional event that saw sixteen
participating teams from Europe and North America. One of the co-host teams, Sweden, would win the tournament on
the backs of NHL superstars Daniel and Henrik Sedin.  Several other familiar USHL officials also worked this back-to-back
Nordic Region tournament including Keith Kaval, Ian Croft, Steve Patafie and Chris Woodworth.

USHL Official’s Patches & Crests

2013-16 Officials will wear the new USHL logo on the front. Nameplates would be replaced by numbers and a slightly larger
(5.5 inches) USHL patch above. USHL stickers on both sides of helmets also.

 Starting in the 2016-17 season the League will also introduce a new logo modernizing the logo of the past several seasons. This large
 crest (4.5 inches) will be worn on the front and the smaller matching crest on the back below the collar line. Officials will continue to
wear numbers. Two smaller logo stickers will also be worn on the side of their helmets.

In 2018-19 Officials return to the traditional Nameplate.

 


This would be the original crest  and logo used by the United States Hockey League staring the 1979-80 season. This would have been the
 first “transition” season for the league as it made the move from Senior Professional to Junior A amateur hockey status. Although at the time, there is no Canadian team in the league, the senior USHL has had teams from north of the boarder.
* This crest was worn by all certified USHL officials.  Crest measures approximately 5 inches in diameter and was worn on the left chest.

* Starting in 1998 Many officials wore a three inch indiameter patch on their right shoulder.  * A small matching crest would
also be added to officials’ jerseys durung the 1998 season. This would
measure approximately 1.5 inches in
diameter and was worn above the nameplate.
  * Referee/linesman would start to wear name plates on a regular basis.

Worn first during the 1999-2000 season for a pair of seasons. Left shoulder by all officials. 

Starting in 2002 the USHL crest design would change with the exit of the league’s only Canadian member.  The maple leaf would be
removed and replaced with a field of stars.
This crest was worn by USHL officials and measures the same five inch diameter as the
orginal crest.  It was worn on the left chest by all certified officials.

 * This would be the primary USHL logo until the

A four inch diameter matching crest would be worn on officials left sleeve in the mid-late 90’s.  *  This same round patch would
be worn on different occasions by teams on home and away jerseys.

2002-03 Tier 1
In august of 2002, the United States Hockey League (USHL) is granted a Teir 1 status. This is considered the highest level of amature
hockey in the United States and helps the league become the eventual foremost producer of junior hockey talent. 


 * In 2003 officials would start to wear this oval alternate crest above their nameplate. * This patch measures approximately theee inches in length.

USHL 25th Anniversary
During the 2003-04 season the USHL would celebrate it’s 25th Anniversary. After a pair of transition seasons, 1979-80 is the first official
season as a Junior league.


* This small sized crest was worn by all Officials on the right shoulder. * Worn by all USHL teams on regular season game jerseys. 

2010 Alternate League logo

This new style logo would start to make randon appearances starting in 2010. * It signals the beginning of a league wide rebranding
of colors and logos. For three seasons officials would wear this alternate logo on the right chest opposite of the traditional round
crest on the left. * This logo was also worn above the nameplate. * Worn on Official’s helmets on both sides.

In 2013 the league would abandon the traditional round crest in favor of this new stylized USHL logo. The changes reflect a darker color
scheme and a more modernized version of  the past USHL logo.

 * A large version 5.5 inches in length of this crest was worn by officials on the left chest.*  A smaller 4 inches in length was
placed on the back below the collar. * The ODP would make the switch from nameplates to numbers on the
 back for officials.
* All officials would wear this logo on both sides of their helmets.

* All member teams would begin to wear this logo patch on all their jerseys. * Usually on the right upper chest.

The USHL announces the redesign of of its new 2016 logo. This is the fifth logo redesigns in the league’s
36 year history when in 1980 the league transitioned from a Senior Professional to an amature Junior league.

The new overall logo is a modern updated blending of  past several seasons.   This new logo will incorporate elements of
logos past; the seven stripes representing the seven original United States teams (There were eight orginal teams in 1980),
the
proportional star representing the rising fortunes of the league’s players, coaches and officials.

on their right shoulder. * This is a subdued red/blie and black in color. *
USHL officials would switch bach to
a traditional nameplate.
